RMA & Background
Check Instructions

All NYSA coaches must complete the Volunteer Management (RMA) process and background check before holding any practices or games. This must be renewed every season.

🚨
Cannot coach until complete. NYSA policy requires all coaches to complete the RMA and background check before any contact with players. This is non-negotiable and must be done each season.

1
Go to the RMA Portal

Visit tinyurl.com/NYSA-RMA-2026 — available after July 1 each season.

You’ll be directed to the Washington Youth Soccer volunteer management system.

Open RMA Portal →

2
Use Your Exact Legal Name

Important: Use the exact same legal name, email address, and date of birth as your NYSA account. Mismatches will delay your clearance.

What to use:Legal first and last name (no nicknames) · Same email as your NYSA/Sports Connect account · Exact birthdate

3
Complete All Required Trainings

The RMA process includes three required trainings through US Soccer:

  • SafeSport Abuse Prevention — required annually
  • Safe & Healthy Playing Environments (Sudden Cardiac Arrest + Concussions)
  • US Soccer Code of Conduct

All available at learning.ussoccer.com/safeguarding

4
Background Check Consent

After completing trainings, you’ll be prompted to consent to a background check through the portal. This is processed by Washington Youth Soccer — NYSA does not conduct these independently.

Processing time:Most background checks clear within 24–72 hours. You’ll receive an email when cleared. Until then, you may not coach.

Confirmation & Questions

Once cleared, you’ll receive a confirmation email. Keep this for your records. If you have questions or encounter issues, contact the NYSA office:
